Once again, facing a deadline with nothing to say, the Wisconsin State Journal punts. Today’s editorial urges Badger football fans to root fer the team, but not be assholes to the thousands of fans coming from Nebraska to root for their Cornhuskers.
Yes, doubtless, this is good advice about sportsmanship, but we question whether it deserves a newspaper editorial.
The advice, first of all, is commonly known to 10-year-olds. And secondly, as the Venn diagram below shows, it’s useless. There is no overlap between the set of persons who read editorials and the set of persons who are occasional drunken sports dickheads.
