Judges need to be and appear to be impartial.
County Judge David Flanagan shouldn’t be signing any recall petitions. And, if he has signed one, he needs to recuse himself when a related case comes before him. That’s the simple case made in the State Journal’s editorial today, “Big flub by Dane County judge“.
